Hockey Pools: Pointless?
I have recently joined two (yes, 2) hockey pools for the 2009-2010 NHL Hockey season. Will being involved in this 2 pools increase the amount I follow the game? Will they increase the amount that I enjoy watching hockey? Do I simply watch less hockey only because the Leafs are hopeless and they will never win a Stanley Cup?
Look, I am a realist. I never played the damn sport past the age of 13. I was only ever a Goalie, so my stick handling sucks as a result. Plus, when I did decide to start playing again in University intramurals I ended up missing the rest of the season after my team’s second game due to getting stitches right next to my eye. Keep in mind these stitches came as a result of my fellow teammate falling down right beside me and slashing me in the face with stick.
No. He was not body checked or hit. He simply fell because he couldn’t skate very well. So are hockey pools pointless? I guess we’ll find out…
